Verizon Wireless

I hate them. Okay, so I was thinking about a week ago that I wanted to hack my phone(Motorola Razr V3M) for a few reasons. One, Verizon cripples all of their phones. Two, if I fuck up, I might be able to get my mother to get me an iPhone. I am blogging this to rip on Verizon and tell people why they are getting mega ripped off . . . .no, actually Terra ripped off. They freaking cripple all of their products. The Motorola v3m comes from the factory with many features. blue tooth file transfer, USB file transfer for ring tone adding, and intuitive menu system. But Verizon Wireless does not seem to like this and decides that they want to take all of this away from you and charge you more to do so. They don't even simplify by taking away. They menu system they replace it with is ugly, no fun to work with, and has no features worth using. Verizon also overcharges for all services. It is $20 for unlimited texting. it is $5 with other carriers. I did fuck up in hacking my phone. But i got it to be pretty damn cool before I did. Its not even like I killed it. It still makes calls, it just cant receive them. Not even sure why. I figure I can go back in and remove all the hacking I put many days into, and have a 50/50 chance of my phone receiving calls again. But it will still suck like it did out of the box. Or, I could take the sim out and put it in my old phone. Ohhhh wait. Another pet peeve of Verizon is that there is no sim card. If I want to activate any of my old Verizon phones, I must call, wait on hold for 2 hours, pretend to be my dad, have his credit card, ssn, and a bunch of other secret stuff. And then they will ask for a long hex code behind the battery, and I need the number of both. So you better not be calling on one of the cells, because then you have to hang up and wait another 2 hours to get back to them after you take your battery out and get the number. I am not sure what I am going to do. I still have 2 1/2 months until my birthday which is when i can get the iPhone. And when that comes around, I don't know if i particularly want to use AT&T, i am considering very heavily unlocking it and going to T-Mobile. AT&T does not have ridiculous policies and does not ALWAYS cripple their phones. But they suck. They are an evil company. Hidden fees here, bad costumer support there. T-Mobile is the only provider that seems to have ethics. But they have the worst coverage I hear. But then I hear so many good things about them, and wonder if it is worth it. But if I do unlock the iPhone, and go to T-Mobile, i need unlimited data, so i need the blackberry plan, but i don't want to buy a blackberry. I want a free phone to take the sim out of and put in my iPhone and then throw in a closet. Going to T-Mobile is complicated in a nut shell, but the service will be cheaper. So as you can see, I have many phone calls to make. Some to AT&T, some to Verizon, some to Apple, and some to T-Mobile. I need a secretary. lol, frustrating. ttyal.

iTunes Ringtone Service

Apple activated the service, and I played with it, it is a pretty nice feature. Now all Apple needs to do is make it so that you do not have to pay to cut 30 seconds out of a song you already own. You would think that there is obviously a way to hack into the iPhone and put your own 30 second clip and make that a ring-tone, and we know we can cut 30 seconds out of a song purchased from iTunes or acquired anywhere else already. So I think I might go with that route when I eventually get the iPhone and want a ring-tone. But the service is fun to lay with.

iPhone

Price Drop!!! Exciting unles you are one of those who has alre3ady purchased yours. The remaining 4gb iPhones are still for sale and they are selling for only $299. I am not going to get one though. I am goint to get the 8gb probably. But I have a gut feeling that there is going to be a 16gb iPhne in the next dare I say 4 months? And now that Apple has invested in chips froma company that makes 3G chips, I have a gut feeling thatr 3G is going to be in the iPhone in the next 12 months for sure. I do not care if I only have 8gb in my iPhone, but I am willing to wait to get 3G. I would also like wireless syncing. There is a wireless iTunes Store now as all of you most likely already know. But am I able to download my podcasts the second they are released over EDGE or wifi? If I am, I am very exciterd about this service. Wireless syncing with your home computer would be pretty cool too. Not exactly sure how easy it would be to implement this. But it would be pretty awesome. My birthday is in about 3 months, so is all goes as planned, I will have an iPhone then. If I were more patient and a little bit smarted, I would wait till' Christmas. But I am not.

I Caught Steve In a Lie

Steve Jobs states in today's press conference that he is replacing the 17" iMac which cost $1,199 with a 20" model for the same price, and that you are saving $300 and getting a better computer. Ummm . . .risky move much? For about a year now the 17" model has been $999. You are actually paying $200 more for the base iMac now steve.

Oh Well, we cannot expect too much from apple, they have, or should have their entire design team working on the new touch screen iPods.

TELEPORTATION! As far as we can tell.

Okay, so i was doing a speed test today, and btw,I had some pretty low upload times, I will be calling comcast, I'm pretty sure I pay for much higher than that, but I don't know what I am paying for exactly. Anyway, I am just amazed at the potential of data transfer rates. There is a company producing functional flexible fiber optic cable, its just amazing what the potential is. So as I was babbling on to my sweet girlfriend who agreed with everything I said even though I was making so sense to her because she is a sweetheart, I came up with a theory. Okay, so assuming we have a connection fast enough to transfer real time full high definition video straight to a full high definition television. Okay, so you have a video chat. Now lets assume that this television is at a level of high definition that the person on the viewing end's eyes are unable to distinguish the image from something literally sitting right in front of him. Okay, now assume that the audio feed, the video feed, the high definition tv was set up properly on both ends of the connection, now . . .who's to say this is not reality, who's to say that they are not in the same room? They can not tell they are not. Just because they know that they are not doesn't mean that they are not in the same room. If a tree falls in a forest and there is nobody there to hear it, did it make a sound? It might have, but it might not have, there is no way to answer that. If our perception thinks the person is in the room with us, who is going to say they are not? This might be as close as we ever get to teleportation while I'm alive or for may years after. Just wanted to get that thought out in an entry.

Thanks for reading!

Apple Sold 270,000 iPhones

Their Stock has not recovered entirely, but my little stocks dashboard widget is green again. So don't listen to AT&T, they only counted activations, just because AT&T are fuck ups and had a bad activation system, does not mean that Apple did not sell a ton of iPhones.

Toyota to Test Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles on Public Roads?

Yes.

Oh you wanted more than that? Oh, I see how it is, OK. So these test vehicles will be modified Priuses in Japan. No, there are no plans to test any in the US. Well, none mentioned by Toyota at least. It has longer range than other hybrids too. With this system, the Plug-in Prius can travel 8 miles as an all electric vehicle. Wow . . . .that is good? I guess it beats the 1.9 miles you can go with the current model. But you hear about all electric plug in cars that have a range of about 100 miles, and this is a hybrid yes, but I would hope for at least a battery capable of 25 miles. You can check out the edmunds.com article for yourself, but I am waiting for the next Gen Prius, I want one really bad.

I Had originally added a digg button that linked back to my blog but if people went to look at the post they will only see the blog and that particular post may be months back hidden away in the archive. So after testing and playing around with it for a while I realized that that would not work. But thats all fixed now and there is a digg button specific to each post in each post. My Thoughts On Joost, And Internet Television

Joost, is from the makers of Skype and Kazaa. Now we all know how popular those are today. Skype was awesome, wow, voice calls over the internet. Everybody thought this was cool, but how come nobody uses it today? People do voice chat however, just not with Skype. I have used voice chat in instant messengers. Kazaa is a file sharing program. I used Kazaa for about 5 minutes two years ago when I got my Creative Zen Plus. I had more ad-ware than I knew what to do with, and the music searching feature did not even work. I use LimeWire Pro (which I got free by downloading it in LimeWire basic) and iTunes which I use to download all of my songs when I have an iTunes gift card with anything on it. Both of these desktop programs have paved the way to better alternatives. Will Joost survive. Hard to say for sure, but I would say probably not. People do not want to watch TV in web quality video for hours on end in front of their computer. I am not against web video by any means however. I personally would love to buy an Apple TV to watch DL.TV, Cranky Geeks, CNET TV, Edmunds Inside Line Automotive Videos, and more. The thing about video on the web is that there is far more variety, and potential for film makers to get noticed, but also to find quality video that interests you. I remember a show on FOX networks that got canceled after about two episodes. I believe it was DRIVE, and I found it interesting, and exciting, and I enjoyed it. But the masses were not watching, so FOX canceled it. Should I have to give up watching a show I enjoy because other people do not find it interesting? I think that the major broadcasting networks should have hundreds of shows, some on network TV, and MANY more on the Internet. The shows that are not broad casted should be on the Internet for people that ARE interested to watch. I think that Apple had this in mind with the Apple TV, and I think Joost is going to start this transition. We cannot watch the videos that interest us sitting at our computers though, that is taking a step backwards. What we have to do is bring the Internet into the family room. I watched an entire series of British television on Joost, the show was called Fifth Gear. I found this far more interesting that anything I can get from Comcast or Dish Network. But I shouldn't have to watch sitting in front of my computer. I believe that Joost is the start of a revolution, I don't think that it is the answer, but it certainly has the right idea.

iPhone Not Responsible For Duke University Wireless Outage

As reported by CNET's news.com, Tracy Futhey, A Duke spokesman says "The reality is that a particular set of conditions made the Duke wireless network experience some minor and temporary disruptions in service. Those conditions involve our deployment of a very large Cisco-based wireless network that supports multiple network protocols.". Cisco says that they worked closely with Duke, and Apple to resolve this issue. Cisco would not saw exactly what fix was applied, but the problem has not occurred since. Apple declined to comment on the issue.

A Cut Together I Did

OSX Froze

For The First Time In Like . . .Years. I was begining to wonder if Apple bothered to include a freeze screen, it is that rare. I was asking for it, I had almost every application running. I Also sent this in with my phone testing the Blogger Mobile Blogging service.

50th Post

For my 50th Post, I have added a few widgets to the side column. I had plans for a new layout as well, but that fell through due to technical difficulties. I added a widget displaying my Google Reader Shared Items, A Twitter Badge designed for Blogger. I also added a Lijit.com search engine, and a Last.fm badge showing my most listened to tracks in a given week. Some behind the scenes additions to the blog are a feedburner feed, so I have the ability to track how many people are subscribing to my blog, and Google Analytics. I would like to thank lemonlovr for the tips on tracking subscribers and page views.

I Was Right and Wrong

The Apple Store was down today, which proves the Macalope and I had a guess that wasn't 100% wrong. Our guess was that there would be something new today. However, after it opened back up, there were no immediate changes in anything, so I started searching specs of all of their products, and my search turned up nothing. There still could be something new, but it appears this update was very small. Was it worth closing the entire store for something that small. You'd think that you could make changes without bringing the whole system off line. Or do they just want the free advertising acquired by putting the site off line. Oh Apple, your such a tease.

New iMacs Tomorrow?

According to the Macalope, Apple representatives have requested that all Apple retail stores have their inventory reports up to date by tonight. This Could mean new hardware tomorrow. I would prefer we got new touch screen iPods with safari and everything the iPhone has except the phone, just because I am going to spend a ton of money on a camcorder soon, and if a new iPod came out I might rethink that decision. But more likely, but still not likely, would be a new iMac. I have a feeling that the next iMac will be something special. I am guessing that silver, aluminum, what ever you call it that the Mac Pro and the MacBook Pro are made out of is going to be the new face of Apple. The iPhone takes it on a little bit too. Speaking of the iPhone, do you think there is going to be multi-touch to use spaces on the new iMacs? That would be pretty awesome. To be able to flip through open windows, or to use expose with finger gestures. Like I said, I think this is going to be something special, but I doubt it is coming out tomorrow. There might be something tomorrow, but nothing too big. A 3G iPhone firmware upgrade would be nice. By the way, today I was approached by someone asking me if I thought the Apple TV was worth buying. I told them that I did not think so. There is no HD content available on the iTunes store worth watching (is there any at all?), and there are cheaper ways of doing the same thing. My final word of advice was that if money is no issue, then yes, Apple TV is probably the best you can get for Mac (or a yicky PC) integration with your TV, but there is no way in hell I am going to pay $400 ($300 for a 40 GB version, but why not pay the extra hundred for a 160GB drive?) to get a movie, some pictures, or my music from the computer in the next room to my TV. So I am curious what Apple's next move is, cut the Apple TV and call it a failure, or pull a classic Apple move and add all this amazing content designed for it in the iTunes store. Anyway, I have some stuff to do, just thought I would let some of my theories into the wild.

Going to Chicago Tomorrow

Yes, I will be going downtown tomorrow. We are going to take the train
because driving is a hassle. I plan to see the Apple Store, my brother
wants to stand in the NBC5 window in hopes of being on TV, and we are
just going to hang out. We will probably be doing some boat rides, and
might have lunch somewhere too. I will take some pics hopefully. I don't
have my cam yet, so no video can be taken. But I hope to have it by my
Colorado trip. I am hoping to be able to bring it down the alpine slide. However, it does not look like I will be
able to. I will for sure get some footage though. To jump to another

Damn Road Construction

Today the road to school was blocked off, so I had to walk about a block
or two in length to get to school. Now I have nothing against walking,
in fact I think life would be more awesome if there were a hell of a lot
more walking. However, I do not think that this situation was handles
properly. The cab driver told me to just walk because he had another
pick up. I knew this was breaking the rule and he could loose his job,
however, I did not feel like arguing with a man who barely knows English
to get him to find another way around to a school that is about 60
seconds away walking. So I got out. But he was reported, and he drove me
home, but seemed pretty pissed. It is the road construction in north
aurora that causes all of these problems. Many of the other buses,
students, and staff just drove through the field to get in. If I were
driving that would have been the route I'd take. But whatever. Again, I
am pro-walking to get places. I however know the importance of time, and
the fun of driving fast. With these variables in mind, walking is
usually not an option. More so in a city however. Ahh well . . . . In
other news, my fingers seem to be typing poorly/slowly for some reason
lately. This is bad. Hopefully they just need a good night's sleep.

A Word of Advice to Chili's Resturant

Dear Chili's Restaurant,

I have been to your fine establishment many times, and enjoyed my experience during all of them. However, today, I was a little busy and did not have time to go eat at your establishment, so I decided to use your Car Side To Go service. I am glad to know that you offer this service, but I was not impressed with it. There was no car side in this Car Side To Go service, you have to walk in and wait in a line to get your food yourself. You do however get a reserved parking spot if you are picking up food. But if you are in line for more than ten minutes paying customer or not, they will crush your car and melt it.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Wow, that was my reaction, why not just scare the customers off?
I took out my phone and snapped a pic because I was so amazed at how blatantly ignorant this company was. When I got home, i found some fries that were cold and looked s though they had been made for hours, and a turkey sandwich that was nothing special. Having the food made before the customers order is what Burger King, and McDonalds are supposed to do, not Chili's. If I wanted a crappy turkey sandwich and cold fries, could have driven half as far and paid half as mush and gone to McDonalds. I am unimpressed with this service, and would not recommend it.

iDay

Yes, it is iDay. I am very excited, and a little depressed. I am very excited because the coolest thing ever, or at least in a long time came out today. The Belkin Mini Jack Converter for that one thing from Apple. Is it the iFoam? Some packing material I heard. Anyway, I want an iPhone very badly. Fortunately, I am going to get one. I just have to wait like 8 months. And if I am at all lucky, there will be 3G by then. I am OK with all of its "flaws" except for the 3G. That should be better. I have to say I am a little surprised it is not there. There have been reports of people noticing that their Cingular EDGE networks have seemed a little faster and one guy even took a snap shot of his screen on his phone of the results of a speed test. He got 200k or something. And the normal for EDGE is like 150-180k. This could mean that AT&T is doing some work to make their EDGE network a little ore bearable. But still, 200, even 250k if they managed to get their EDGE speeds that high, would not be much of an improvement. If Apple were to put a 3G chip in the iPhone, and who's to say they didn't already and it is a software update away, you would have speeds of 400k-700k anywhere you had AT&T coverage. Not just in that lame little wi-fi hot spots. When I saw the keynote and saw Steve introduce mobile safari that was the "Real Safari" I was excited thinking that omg, the iPhone is going to be the Internet in your pocket. But no, not exactly, he comes along not to long later to tell us that it is only 2G. He had better be glad he is Apple, and that there are still some VERY cool features on the iPhone, because that would have been enough to loose my interest if they were say . . .Sony. I think Apple would make tons if they didn’t get into the phone market. They just had a wi-fi safari browser and a touch screen iPod, and sold it for $299.99, or even $249.99. I would go out and buy it that day. The whole phone thing, I just don’t know. If they had left that market alone, things could have gone well. Or if they had less mobile features and it was more focused on being an iPod and internet device. If it were unlocked, and you didn’t need a new contract, you just needed to take it to your Verizon store, your T-Mobile store, and they would activate it for you, that would in my opinion sell just as well without the carrier lock in. My reasoning I personally think that people are all hyped up about this iPhone is this. People at this point in time, are pissed off at their cell phones. This may be true more or less, but on average people are not 100% satisfied with their phones. But carriers are different. Carriers, people are not only pissed off at, most people hate their carriers, carriers, and their phones. People think of Apple as the company that does things right, the company that makes things beautiful, simple, and easy to use. Now when such a company announces that they will be producing a mobile phone, this is what makes people so excited. Apple technically is going to have their iPhones running on the AT&T network, but is going to keep the interference between AT&T, and their iPhone buyers, to a minimal. For example, the activation of the iPhone is done in iTunes. This basically says to AT&T, “We want our costumers to have the easy of use that they have grown accustom to when activating their iPhones, so you are obviously not in the equation, kay?” AT&T agreeing to this is not a bad idea. Although AT&T might not have much control, they are going to make huge profits. For those of you who did not know this, Apple originally went to Verizon, a much stronger and more reliable network (sorry AT&T fan boys if there is such a thing) and Verizon did not agree to the terms Apple was proposing. Now I don’t blame Verizon entirely, they had no idea what this phone was going to be capable of; they didn’t really get to know anything about it. All that Verizon was told is that Apple would have full control over advertising, and control rate plans, but it would be fair. Naturally, Verizon did not want anything to do with that. AT&T (then Cingular) knew about Apple, and what they were capable of doing. AT&T was able to see that giving up control of one of their phones could bring in large amounts of profits. AT&T eventually agreed, and we are going to see how things play out over the next few months. But for now, we are going to have to just wait. More about me though, I am going to Great America on Sunday, and tomorrow I will be doing iPhone stuff and homework all day. Hopefully I will get to touch one and do a short write off of the multi touch system tomorrow as well. Let’s move slightly away from the iPhone, and on to networking. Out of the box, Macs are fully open to talking to other Macs, I print to other Mac’s printers in my house, and I save files on another Mac’s drive. But I have never actually tried to network my Gateway laptop to any of the Macs. I only wanted to today because I do not have a printer in my room, and needed to print something. I only print once in a blue moon, so this never really came up before. But today I wanted to. I am able to print to the iMac in the basement from anywhere in the house on the MacBook, but I would like the same capability on the Gateway. Well, five minutes on a mixture of google and Mac Help, and I found out that if I installed Bonjour on my PC, it would recognize the shared printers and set them up in the windows printer utility for me. That worked instantly. But then I wanted more. I decided that I wanted file sharing as well. (btw, I used it to transfer this post which I was typing in word from the Mac to the pc) So I went onto google, I went onto Apple’s help page, but eventually got my help from some forums that I was to excited to take note of the name of. (Sorry unknown forum) Long story short, I am able to not only see, but read, write, delete files on my pc from my Mac now, and on my Mac from my pc. Of course, Apple makes it much more beautiful. Good thing I have an XP pc too, because I would not have done this on a Vista pc.

Good Morning Yall! This is Ryan Brooks reporting from the Apple Store and am making this post on a press release iPhone. The store has since closed, and I am here with Steve Jobs and he just gave me all access to Apple's Cupertino headquarters to walk in on otherwise top secret meetings and all. How does multi-touch work you ask? I typed this with out a single error. Steve Balmer is trying to break in and get one now. Gonna go help Steve kick that guys ass.

6/18/07

Today was a good day I suppose. I will start with my day, but if that doesn't matter to you, scroll down to some format war news. Ok, I woke up to find that my family had left to my mom's sisters son's 6 year old birthday. So I had the house to myself all day, which was nice. I went down, made a Stouffer's casserole thing in the microwave, and ate that. Then I went upstairs, took a shower, and then I went down to the treadmill and fell asleep power walking. Not literally of coarse. I had my eyes shut and held on adjust kept walking. I got in 3 miles, and burned 350 calories. I Got my heart rate up to 209. It was fun. So I finished that, I started some homework. I did about 15 minutes of homework and then I got a call from my mom telling me that she was bringing me some steak from the party, and asked me to get bo ready for a walk. I said yes, and put my homework away. When she got home we walked bo, I rode alongside her on my bike. About 50 feet from my house, I decided to do a fishtail in a sandpit, and I did, and then when I went to pull out of it, the chain slipped off, so I had to walk out of the sand and walk the bike home. The bike is a nice one, it is only two years old. It has disc breaks and everything. It is not the first time this has happened either. So I am a little upset at Mongoose for building such a bad bike. But that was cool, cause I really don't care and have a hundred other bikes all over my garage. So I went in, ate the steak my mom brought me, and then I got back to homework. I did homework until like 20 minutes ago while talking t Derek. Then I took the MacBook to were I am sitting right now and pulled up Google Reader. Not much struck my eye until I found out that Blockbuster chose Blu-Ray as the HD disc format they will be marketing. This angers me because Blu-Ray players cost more, and it has been what, 8 months that you can purchase a Blu-Ray disc? And the coating on them is beginning to rust already. I like Blu-Ray more in theory, and I was on the side of Blu-Ray for a while, it has more capacity, has a cooler name, and Microsoft doesn't like them, whats not to love? Well, the players. They cost too much. An HD-DVD player is almost 50% cheaper. Half the capacity, meant you have to package your movies with 2 discs if it comes down to it. I am just mad because Blockbuster deciding to go with Blu-Ray is a pretty big punch in the face for HD-DVD. I hope the producers have chosen one of the two by the holidays, because my family is planning to upgrade out TV, out Player, and our sound system. And I don't want to have to old off because the effing producers are still throwing baby fits about why this is better, or this is better. Just shut the fuck up and choose one! If Blu-Ray does become the standard, I would hope that Sony is able to build a quality Blu-Ray player that is not lacking in features and is affordable. If Sony is unable to do this, I will not be buying, I will just stick with the HD on-demand Comcast movies for the time being. I used www.urltea.com today, and I like it much better than www.tinyurl.com. It is prettier, but it seems faster and more reliable. Plus, it automatically copies the shortened url to your clipboard.

Good Night All,

Ok, so I put google adsense adds on my site, feel free to click them, or not. I get paid when people click them, but there is something about taxes that doesnt make any sense to me, so I am not sure if I am ever going to get anything out of it. But they are not too obtrusive, and are supposed to be relevant to what I write about. I made an iPhone out of paper today, and made a video of it, which is the post right below this one. If anyone has any knowledge of how to handle the google adsense tax thing, please let me know.

tty all later.

I am disappointed by WWDC07. I was hoping for new hardware. People who say it is just a developer's conference, there shouldn't be hardware, are right. But i have a right to be hopeful because there was a new Mac Pro introduced at last year's WWDC06. I tried safari for windows, and it looked nice, it froze up on me though. I am not a fan of apple's decision to put safari on PC. Maybe it is faster. Then just give us those facts and let the PC users feel bad. Oops, I meant to say make them feel like switching. (he he, no i didn't) I don't use safari anyway, and I don't intend on switching anytime soon. Although I have used it in the last 3 months. I haven't touched IE in like 3 years. And that was because I came across something that could not run in firefox, but now with the IE tab add on I can do everything in firefox, so I leave it alone. I have to say IE is the one of the things I hate the most about Microsoft. But everything Microsoft has built a pretty good reputation for sucking really bad. I have a PC in my room. It is a Gateway laptop running XP, it has a 1.3GHZ processor. I installed Ubunto and was up until 5 in the morning installing it the other day, and when you boot into it, the computer shuts off. I saw the video of WWDC07 and I saw Leopard. A quick thank you/shoutout to Apple Inc.

Apple, I want to thank you.
I want to thank you for making your software seamless.
I want to thank you for making your machines beautiful.
I want to thank you for Aqua.
I want to thank you for leopard which appears to more beautiful than all versions before it.
I want to thank you for being so reliable and a 6 year old mac that runs bug free to this day, and a 17 year old Performa that is now retired but ran just as well.
I want to thank you for giving me an alternative to crappy Microsoft products.
Thank you Apple.

I could continue with a list of things I wish Apple could improve on, but I dont have the time. I spent 2 hours trying to get a Linksys WRE54G to work, and it turns out, just like everything else I have ever ordered from Linksys, the install CD is a piece of shit and should be recycled. The directions do not tell you how to set it up at all. They just assume you have a linksys unsecured router. And that it is right next to were you will be putting this, (not sure why it would be, it is a range extender, it should be far away. So i gave it a poor review on cnet, and that is actually were I got tips and hints to hacking this thing to work. Ahh well, it works really well so far. I have a 90% signal right now, and I am 2 stories and a few walls away from the router. I wonder if the microwave is still going to kill my signal. gtg, I am back in school, and have homework again. ttyl.

too, but they just are not the same. Maybe one day I will love Oh, what an exciting day. I didnt really do anything exciting, but I feel excited. I have Ubuntolinux installing on the gateway at the moment. And I am ordering a 320GB 7200RPM hard drive for all of my storage needs (i could use a couple terabytes if I were to use it for ALL my storage needs) and that makes me very happy. I will be moving it alot though, and I know that is bad for a spinning plate hard drive. I will be moving it from computer to computer with gigantic files. Wait, i am thinking as i write this, i could network it through the imac in the basement, and just put it behind the desk in the basement, and access it over my wireless network. I am so smart, i just have to lay my ideas out on paper, or in this case lay them out on an LCD screen. I saw Pirate of the Caribbean today, it was the best pirates I have seen so far. But you might disagree. And I dont really care, so dont bother to tell me. I have noticed that I have a whole shitload of typos on the gateway, but one in almost every word on a desktop keyboard. But I almost never have one on the MacBook keyboard. I think we are a perfect match. It is to bad we are not. She may have a great keyboard, but I need way more power. I need an Nvidia graphics card with plenty of Joost power. And a processor that is 2.2 GHZ. I need a MacBook pro. I know there are people complaining that their macbook pro's batteries are blowing up, and dumb stuff like that. But i am choosing to ignore that and just pretend that we really are meant to be. I was researching the server that my home school uses, and it as an Apple X serve. Which are truly awesome servers and I honestly believe are the best way to network a large group of computers. Linux based servers are second, and microsoft ones are third. They have two G5 processors, which I hold a special place in my hart for. I love the PowerPC processors. If I had money to throw around I would buy a mac pro with a G3, another with a G4, and another with a G5 and just put them away in storage to seal that wound in my heart that longs for one. I may keep the G5 Mac Pro out for its power though. I like the intelsintel . . . what the fuck am i saying. Shut up ryan. You cant love intel. Intel processors are not made with that apple touch. They are just, well, made. To work. Like I said, I have Ubunto linux installing on my gateway. I have an 18.6 hard drive on that old thing, and 4.2 GB free, and u need 5 gb free to install this thing, so I went into CCleaner and got rid of everything and anything that I didnt think i needed. And then I emptied the recycling bin, and now i have 5.6 GB free, so i decided to go ahead with it and get an external HD because I cant live off of 600MB of free storage. I have more on my flash drives. BTW, I put an encrypted disk partition the size of my 1gb flash drive and used 128 bit encryption, which i am sure can be broken, but it is currently the standard for the FBI to use. So it would take many years, or a super computer to open it. And there isn't anything inside worth anything anyway, i just did it cause I can. but if you have a mac, and needed a place for some files. A place nobody can ever see, do this. Get the usb drive, plug it in, clear everything on it, and check how much memory there is one it. Then open up disk utility and click new image. Save it on the desktop, and name it whatever, but were it says 40mb, change it to what ever the free space on the usb is, and then click make, it should take a few minutes to make it, it will ask what pasowrd, (btw, click for security AES 128 bit) and enter whatever password u want. It will make, and then go to were u saved it and drag it to the usb. Eject the image, and the usb, and then put it back in. Open the usb, click the image, enter your pass, and then you are in the vault. Eject it at anytime to lock it again. It is your private storage location. I may do that with the 320GB one. idk yet. anyway, ttyl.

Thoughts on iPhone

Ok, so the iPhone is supposed to be all that. But will it be? I don't think so. I think it will most definitely be the most awesome phone on the planet. But for sure Apple cut some corners. 4, and 8 gigabytes? That is way too small to replace my iPod for sure. And that is just music. If this is going to be a revolutionary post-PC device, running a full version of OSX, hold your videos, well, i need at least 40 gigabytes. I do not remember details, but I know that about a week or a month after Apple unveiled it, some company introduced a 16 gig flash based memory chip the same size. Which would have been a little more acceptable. It it doesn't have 3G?!?!?!?!?! What the hell was Apple thinking? No 3G holy crap. No over the air downloads. It would be cool if you had iTunes and the iTunes Music Store over the air. Even if you had to pay a premium for each over the air download, it would make the iPhone a little more worth the price. The battery life is supposed to be 5 hours. That sucks. But you can not change the battery yourself. With Apple's history of shitty batteries, this is bad as well. Sure, the device may not be as sexy as it is not if there were a battery door. It has awesome software from what I've seen so far, and it looks like a pretty sexy phone, it screen has super high resolution for its size as well. But will the touch screen be as good as Steve says it is. Like I said, even with all of its downfalls, it is still a really cool phone. But it is not at all worth the price. Unless there is not a price on looking cool. But when all of these short comings become apparent to Apple in sales figures, as well as to AT&T, I think there will be discounts. When you look at the other "smart" phones on the market, all of them have a retail price close to the price of the iPhone, but they are being sold for much less with a 2 year contract. Can we expect to see this with the iPhone? I think so. I think Apple might have a few easter eggs, surprises, extras built into the iPhone as well. It would not be unlike them. I think Apple will have a second generation iPhone sometime soon as well that is finally up to standards and actually worth the price they are asking. The most I think I would pay for one is $399, and it would have to be as god as it is advertised, if not, I would only pay $249. Time will only tell. So we will have to wait and see.

6/6/07

I realize I have not posted in a while, I have been busy. If I told you what I was busy doing, you would call me lazy. But I can take it, and I need something to write about, so I will tell you anyway. I have been finishing up a year of school. I will never again see many of the people there. Some I have known for 2-3 years. So that has been sad. I have done a lot of sleeping (that is the lazy part) but only because I am very tired from being up late and getting up early waiting for news to break. Specifically Apple rumors. There was a rumor that there would be new MacBooks yesterday. That was not entirely accurate, there were however updated MacBook Pros. Which is cool. I am waiting for an upgrade to the MacBook line that includes a 15 inch screen and 2 gigabytes of RAM. It is true, that I can get all that in a MacBook Pro, but I don't want to pay extra for all of the extras included that I don't need in the MacBook Pro. I need a better graphics card than is offered in the MacBooks as well. So I might just end up getting a MacBook Pro anyway. But it would be nice if they made better MacBooks, The MacBook Pro line is designed for media editing professionals. The MacBook is designed for the consumer. This day in age, people do more on their computers than what the current MacBooks are built to handle. I could settle, if they added a better Graphics Card, and a 15" screen. I like the aluminum body construction of the Pros, but I can settle for a pretty little white book. Anyway, It is 2:55PM, and at three, next years cab driver is supposed to show up and talk to my mom and i can meet him if I were to want to. I am hoping very much it is not a minivan, I drive far too much to sit in an uncomfortable minivan to and from school two hours a day. I hope he has either a Ford Crown Victoria, or a chevy caprice classic. I prefer the ford, I have had drivers with them before and they are the nicest and closest I am going to get to riding in a Lincoln Town Car. They are built on the same platform, (not the same comfy suspension though.) Ahh well, I have nothing t talk about. I have a week off before summer school starts. I shaved my beautiful mustache off. I did it after the year ended to avoid all the attention I would receive. It looks good, I don't think I look as old anymore (or as masculine) but I like the way I look.

ttyl,

Ryan

5/24/07

I feel that we are working harder at the end of the year than we ever have in the middle. Not that that is a huge deal, I am just making observations. I would rather big projects be at the end of the year because I would not feel so bad if I decided to do a shitty job. It is the end of the year, who the heck cares? I well be out of school in 4 days. Wow, kind of weird. I have four days to say good bye to my school from the last three years. It was all I knew, and I have to say bye to people. I am always a little sad when it comes to transitions, but I handle well if I have the same amount of attention, and amenities at the new setting. I am hoping summer school is pretty laid back. It would be cool if there were anyone that I still talked to from my home school I could hang out with and rant and rip on Microsoft all summer. Ahhh, good times. I plan on keeping in touch with most people from my school, but that is what I said about everybody else who left, and I did for the first month or so, and then never again. I have a feeling this transition will be much the same. I just like to look forward. It is not that I like to look forward (which I do) but it is that I have to or I will become all i dont even know. I am always looking forward, with minimum looking back. Obviously I have to look back to lessons I have learned about life, about previous conversations with people, and the basic stuff. But I am focused on progress, or digressing. I am always changing, which pisses me off a little bit, but I also love that about myself. If I like sprite, but I take a look at my life, and decide it is time for a change of mind set and outlook, that will be the last time I buy sprite. I used to think I would be the best person in the world, I would be so great, because I had such amazing perseverance if what I was working for really mattered to me. But pushing so hard, not letting anything matter, made me great, at whatever I was trying to do for a while, but eventually the pressure broke me down. And over the past few years, I have been working myself back up, but gradually, I do not want greatness as much as I used to. I do not even remember what I wanted, I think I just thought about what mattered most to me and shut down all focus on everything else. I am a lot more balanced now, I consider myself pretty normal seeming on the outside, I am quiet, and have funny hair, but I love the hair, and am working on being more social even when all there is to say in a situation is something I think a total idiot would say, I guess I could say it. I however, think on the inside, I am much different than most people. My outlook, well that is kind of what it is, I am an onlooker, I study the world, people and their reactions to different things. Sure, i do not notice who has the biggest crush on who, but I do notice when people are figiting due to being uncomfortable, I am fascinated by how much body language can tell you. (although it is pretty awkward to stare somebody down) And I make decisions on how to and what to say and do in life to get the least negative attention, and overall what I have to do to stay happy with life. I often make decisions based on the people behind what I am deciding. Whatever that sentence means. Like an example that is kind of what I am saying, but not really is I am at an office store, and I am looking at pens, I could buy Bic, or papermate, I will think about what I know about who runs the company, (if i know anything) or study the build, design, and other tiny things to decide who deserves my service. I think I have a different way of looking at life than most people, but in the long run, the outcome of what I do is the same. Wow, i really babbled on about my mentality today now didn't I? Well, I will talk to you all later. By the way, Derek, if you are reading this, what is Safari Land?

Thanks,

-Ryan

Derek, do not get a MacBook yet, there are rumors suggesting that they have been completely redesigned and are to be released next month. Better ones. And maybe prettier ones, not that mine is not extremely gorgeous. I am not too sad if they do release a new one. Because mine at the moment is only half mine. I cannot play with it's insides, or take it out of the house. If they come out with a new one, I will have something to work for. And will consider working. Or looking for a way to get easy money. Apple's new operating system, Leopard, (it is currently tiger) 10.5 current version is 10.4.9 and will have a bunch of cool new features. And I have a little something pissing me off quite a bit and need to vent. I am not going to pretend and make up names. I am going to go all out here. [name removed] from school. I got very angry at your feelings towards PC, but furious at your comments about mac. Have you ever used a computer for anything other than e-mail, have you ever used a mac? Have you ever taken a look at the way in which windows is built and how it runs. It is put together by retards. These programmers cut corners and have nothing but bad ideas. I have had 4 PCs, and not one of them worked at all without a complete reinstall of the operating system due to corrupt files over times. And did you know that Microsoft, including the new Vista, is built with the least efficient coding method available? Did you know that Macs are built on Unix, did you know that i am talking angrily right now? did you know that Macs just work? I have had 6 Macs, and have had only one problem worth reporting. I do not think that you should pick PC as your favorite just because you are not worthy enough to use a Mac. Sure, you have had to deal with slow performance, and a computer that is not doing what it is supposed to(if not you don't do a whole lot, do u?) and random shut downs. So you just assume that macs are the same with a prettier face and a higher price tag. But you are a fucking dumbass if that is what you think. If you want
to talk about something, talk about something you know about shithead. Fuck You.

Btw, when typing this I had the name of who written, but I do not feel like being a super jerk about this, so I removed it. PS, if you are going to judge macs, but dont know anything about them, then re-consider and SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Fuck you microsoft. I hate you. And cut the fucking zune commercials, anyone who buys one will return it. Anyway, well, no more ranting for now. I have over a hundred google reader articles to get through from the last few days. I am not that mad at anyone. I am not really mad at all. I am just annoyed that everyone does not see the big picture. Like my myspace says, I love Apple with a passion.

Vlog 5/17/07

5/16/07

I tried to make a vlog today, i was a little too tired, out of it, and appeared like i was high. So it didnt work out. But I must say, I am very VERY proud of mary and derek for not only making a twitter, but keeping up with it. They rock. I added tom merrit as my friend, and ryan block to my twitter friends. Two famous people that most people i know have never heard of. But they are famous to me. They are podcasters and journalists. I would add leo but he is a jaiku person, not a twitterer. I love twitter, but i might get a jaiku just to have one. Who knows. I will never stop loving twitter i would use my twitter account with jaiku. I have some homework. I don't know if Mrs. Go will check if I did it, (cause I leave for aroura the second i get to school pretty much) but if she does, i need good points that day. I am going to the west campus to shadow. So yea. ttyal,

5/15/07 2

I am just blogging to blog at the moment. I can, and I will. Because this is Web 2.0 and that is real freedom. I can say whatever I want, when ever I want, for whatever reason I want. Although I have nothing to say right now that is remotely important. I had a bit of a public IM a minute ago over twitter. I converted 2, maybe three people to twitterers today. I feel proud, this is, how socializing will be in the next decade. People will do most of the talking on the internet, that doesnt mean they will be at home, it means they will be using mobile devices, and out hanging out at the same time. I love my macbook sooooooo much. I think I will replace it though. I like nice and NEW apple laptops. I will get a new one sometime in the next two years. I will try really hard not to give in and buy a cheaper but shitty computer such as a pc. Ahhh well, ttyl

5/15/07

I was having a pretty good day until I got home. I found out that the two gadgets I hold dearest and closest to my heart, have both been replaced, and in the same day. My beloved MacBook, oh my MacBook, no exaggeration, I would run through a fire to get it if the house were burning down, has been updated and is twice as powerful for the same price I paid for it. That felt like a punch in the gut. Then, the Motorola Razr 2 was released, and I have the first razr, as do many other people, but I am still sad about the whole thing. I can live with not having the newest razr, but i feel really really ripped off that I paid for what 4 months later would buy me a top of the line macbook, for a lower level model. Ahhh, i am serious, i am pretty depressed about this. I think I need some good news today. Meh, ttyl people,

Vlog 5/13/07

5/13/07

Alright, I will make a post because apparently this one kid is complaining tat I don't update enough. I didn't think anyone read this, but oh well. First of all, I would like to make the fact that anything I say in this blog is off the record. And I would appreciate it if what is said on the blog, stays on the internet at least. If you have anything to comment on, just leave a comment on the post. Lets see, what is important in my life, I want a new laptop, I want an HDTV, a Blu-Ray player, and HD comcast. I also want really fast internet. I have the fastest available in my area, but that is not good enough. I am looking forward to summer, even though I will only have like a week off before I then have to start going o summer school. But that is probably enough tie for me to gather my thoughts and compose myself. I bought a straightener yesterday, I straightened a strand of hair and thought it looked kindof funny. I am considering straightening my entire head. But I do not know if that would look good so I am hesitant. I broke into my grandmother;s house yesterday to take measurements of her stairs because we are going to install a people lifter thing because my grandpa can not walk up the stairs. It was kindof exciting, the breaking in part. Sneaky Sneaky. A funny kid whos name will not be mentioned because I dont feel like typing it and dont want to risk misspelling it, made a blog a few days ago, (because he wants to be just like me. I'm flattered) and I have subscribed to it on google reader. But sometimes I get bored reading it, and I have engadget to read too, and they have pictures and cool technologies, and I am a little more fascinated by that. I always have over 100 news articles to get through every day plus e-mail. So I am a busy bee. I fell asleep watching youtube and making an avatar of myself last night on the MacBook, and I woke up to see that I had used the 4 hour battery up completely. Which was kindof depressing. I like that laptop because it's batter never seems to run out. I got an Apple e-card with a MacBook on it from derek, (wish you had given me a MacBook Pro) and thought, awwwww, how sweet, and then I thought, wait a second, i never gave him my e-mail address. But then i realized i gave it out in this blog. So I am not too creeped out. My laptop has a 14" screen, i feel deprived, the HP i want has a 15 inch screen. Meh, the MacBook has a 13" screen, so why am I complaining. The macbook pro I want has a 15 inch screen. The macbook pro that I would love to have for around the house has a 17" screen. I remember when I got the gateway for the 1st time, and I had had a Toshiba satellite with like a 12" screen for like 2 years, and I thought that 14" was freaking huge. But it is considered pretty average today. Although 15.4" is the standard, 14 is designed for travelers. I do not travel with my laptop though. I seem to see the BSOD alot more when I am moving around with it. The mac has no problems with moving. The mac has a sensor to tell if it is falling so that it can lock up the hard drive if it might fall, and you can use it to your advantage, there is an add that you can install and than you rock the laptop back and forth, and you see a picture of an identical laptop on the screen mimicking your actions. It is pretty cool. How is this useful you ask, well, you can use the motion sensor to switch between desktops as well, by smacking it. Like a SmackBook, not a MacBook. Here is a link to a video showing how it is done. Click Here For Video.
Well, that is all i got for now, have a nice resto of your weekend all. Oh wait, before I go, is anyone else jumping up and down screaming inside at the thought of a sixth generation ipod with a touch screen and a wide screen. Well I am. And. I am going to die when one comes out. I hope it doesn't cost too much, because I absolutely have to have one the second they come out.

4/30/07

Ok, so it has been a long time, Mackenzie "broke up" with me because she was under the influence that we were going out (not sure how you mistake that being as we have NEVER gone out) and thought that I was hurt that she was leaving me. How strange, scary, funny and everything else. Speaking of strange, scary, and funny, I have been listening to more ICP, I have always loved Tech N9ne and his style of music, but I never really put 2 and 2 together, they both are extremely similar, so I did some research, some listening, and I enjoy them very much. Just gotta make sure they do not influence me (that will be pretty easy, they are insane). I have seen the blue screen of death many times in the last few hours, but I have only really used this laptop a few times this week, my mother has let me take her MacBook and I have been using that lately. Cnet has been boring, (nothing new or overly interesting) and Google Reader has been just as boring. I was listening to BOL today, and I heard that it is not exactly unheard of to loose your google homepage, or g-mail account (my primary e-mail) so I got all scared, ( I get scared when something I rely on just might go away). I have been wanting to get Thunderbird, I have never really used an e-mail client, but I really wanted to play with it, 2.0 just came out and was supposed to have all these cool features, so I downloaded, it knew the special settings for gmail for me, all I needed was login and password, and 712 messages were downloaded to my inbox. I had to enable pop on gmail first though. I made all new folders, and sat down and used the search feature to make sorting the messages into folders a 20 minute job. I am very happy. I just wish I knew how to then transfer to another computer with thunderbird when I get my new dell. Yes, I have decided that paying half and being a little more complicated and uglier is worth it. I will buy the dell over the macbook. It has a bigger screen too, and that alone is a big seller or me. I just do not get why Apple ONLY sells 13" macbooks, they used to have options, 12" or 14" they should have 13" or 15". And It would make my decision to switch to dell even more difficult. But they don't, so I am like meh. But yea, I want to transfer all when I get my dell, and I would like help. If anyone reading this has any clue, please let me know. I would absolutely love to know. I wouldn't normally do this, but since I have a great email client now, I can handle lots of messages, my e-mail is ryanbrooks33@gmail.com or you could comment this post.

You are all great, (not that many if anybody reads this)

I was sitting out in my garage today (sunday) with my father. We were discussing how there are 113 days until i get my permit and how i want the key to the camry as a birthday gift. He was all ok, get good grades and shit. We went inside to get lemon aid. I got some and started to walk outside, saw mackenzie was walking over, so i shut the dore quickly and ran. I waited like 10 minutes, my dad was with my mom talking about something. I eventually peeked out. And she was leaning against my car ( I got a carwash and a tire shine earlier that day) and I was like get off my car you idiot. (word for word, I seriously hate her) and she is like I think you need to sit down. I am like I think you need to go home. I sat down and started to sip my lemon aid. She helped herself to one of my chairs. And then she was like I dont know how to tell you this, but it's just not working out. And I was thinking OMG she cannot be talking about what i think she is talking about. But she was. lol, she was like there is this other boy that I like (not sure of him name) and she is like I really like him and i think he likes me back because he didnt hang up on me and was nice to me on the phone (infering that i am an ass and hang up on her alot on the phone ((i usually dont even answer)) ) and I am like HA! thats a mistake. And she is like I can see your hurt. I say, Nope. . . She says yes you are, I say, I dont believe I am. And she is like, well, we can still be friends, I never really wanted a relationship anyway. (note that I was never even aware that I was her friend) And I am like you know, I dont really want anything. She says what do you mean because she is as dumb as a piece of wood. And I saw, I dont even want to be your friend. And she pauses for a moment, and then gets all defensive and says, SO YOU DONT WANT TO BE FRIENDS, YOU DONT WANT ME TO CALL YOU, AND YOU DON'T WANT TO HANG OUT? And I said, ummmmmm. . . . that sounds about right, bye now. (all happy like) and walked inside. (for dramatic affect and to make her feel bad) I am not usually that much of a dick, but since the day I moved into my house about 6 years ago, I have not been able to walk outside and or have much of a social life without her tagging along, (she even invites herself into my house sometimes) And she is exceptionally rude without knowing it. so I don't feel bad. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Feel bad for the next guy she stalks. Her idea of having a romantic relationship is taking bike rides, and holding hands. Call me shallow, but that sounds a little boring.

Today I was supposed to go to the West Campus, my high school, to shadow a freshman. That was canceled because there was a play and west would just be comming back to south anyway. It was OK, there were some dancers, (apparently there is a dance club) and they were actually ok. I do not enjoy sitting on the ground. It is uncomfortable. I am nearly finished with my book cover for school. I have been keeping up with my Google calender a lot more. I am expecting a Zune Phone 75%. They patented an interface. Google has a 25% chance of introducing a phone as well. A person I know, lets call her Ann, thought she had a 17" Dell laptop for the last year or so. And it turns out it is a 15" bottom of the line model. Sad. . . Gonna go now. Sorry for the short entry. btw, i would like to say that I cant wait for high school, and I can. It is killing me. Anyway, see ya later.

4/12/07

Good evening, morning, afternoon, what ever suites your mood. I have had a crappy day. I went to school and I was content with everything, BOL was nothing special, got to school, took the Mitch Album research I did last night and I wrote a biography, then i went to see miss d (social worker I am required to have by state law for those of you that do not really know me and are stalking me) but I am usually cool with her, but her and I do not agree with anything anymore. We just argued. I talked to Annabelle Elizabeth Srodulski which has not responded to my emails. Which is tragic. I sent out many friend requests last night, 25, 4 accepted, and 12 asked who the hell are you. I said who I was, and most were like oh nice to meetchya and accepted me. And Many said, sorry, i do not know you. I have to tell you about lunch today though. TBA club is what a certain lazy staff member at my school decided to call the club she created. TBA for to be assigned, not computer club, not movie club, not so and so club, but TBA club. Dumb ass, anyway, we did a saltine eating contest, in which I refused to take part in and was told I have to or I will be kicked out, and I do not need that kind of drama at this point in time so i took the fucking crackers. I took a bite and threw them out. Next, we did a "special" talent contest. Were people went cross eyed, flexed their bodies in strange ways, and made fools of themselves. The was the poker face contest, which I knew at the beginning I would win because I admire people who can keep a strait face and intimidate people and want to be like them. I set this goal like four years ago, and I am extremely good at it. I do not find a whole lot funny either. I will laugh sometimes and smile to appear interested and just plain be polite. Do find things people may say funny, just not worthy of laughing out loud. I went home, did not have any homework, had some comments from Ali, that was fun, nobody writes me. People that I know outside of this little black machine i am tapping my fingers on at least. I then went to the store, came home, did the trash, watched ER, the daily show, the Colbert report, and now am blogging. I will update and charge my ipod in a few, then shower, and fall gently to sleep. Ahhh, my cheesy choice of words makes going to bed sound so much more fun. I think I will go shower now so I can do that.

Today it SNOWED! Just the night before they said it was going to snow, I was out without a jacket on with bo. And then it freaking snowed! Gah, so yea, BOL is not going to be saying the day anymore. That makes me sad, I enjoyed that. Apparently T & V have seen M's baby, he is apparently A) Sleeping, or B) Very Angry and enraged. Which would mean it is definitely her son, lol. I am learning that I crave a smart phone more and more every day. I am almost definitely going to put in some extra dough when my contract expires to hopefully get the helio ocean, or the Amp'd Moto Q with all of those useless boring battery eating video , I like unlimited and 3G networks, with qwerty keyboards, they rule. But I must have a web browser, or it is not worth it. I like the t-mobile dash. Not as much as I like the sidekick (sexiness wise) but i do not know (didn't bother to check) if the sidekick is a fully functional smart phone as the dash is. If I end up getting a job at 16 (which i most likely will) I would probably switch to t-mobile just because they are strait forward, cheap, and you can hook any unlocked phone to their network. I have sent out 24 friend requests in the last hour on myspace. Mostly girls and some guys that have similar interests as I. I have had an okay school week. There has been plenty of fun ghosip, and shit. Well, I must update my ipodpodcasts that I subscribed to without thinking yesterday. Bty, I had a theory that with apple tv supporting up to 720p picture, the itunes store would have HD content rolling out in the next few months. Well, The Washington Post's video podcast is now in HD, and I assume there are more to come. EMI is drm free on itunes, as you may know, and MGM pictures has signed a deal with itunes to sell content. That is my current life situation, I mush shower and sleep now, I plan to attend school tomorrow.

4/8/07

Goodness, my blog got away from me again. I guess I will start up from what I remember from a few days ago, and today. A few days ago, I figured out that I will be shadowing at the west campus (my high school) on the 18th of this month. I also was informed that there is a major rivalry between all the staff at my current school. Apparently, my homeroom teacher is a Nazi, according to another staff member. And everyone just hates everyone. I am was unaware of that. I mean I knew they hated each other, but I assumed they were mature enough to keep it to them selves. So that was extremely interesting. I had to walk laps in gym last week, around the building, which is no fun, being as lazy as I am. I dug deeper into that guy that added me as a friend on twitter. It turns out he lives in the same metro area as I, and he listens to Buzz Out Loud. He likes awesome cars, and he sent me a Joost Beta invite. Joost is cooler than I expected it to be. All of its programing is watchable and fun, and it works with my Apple Remote. So it is like having on demand comedy central and Laguna Beach and everything else at my fingertips. Easter was today. But I guess I should start with 2 nights ago. I snuck into the storage room and I saw my wireless adapter I asked for fr my laptop. I brought my mother's MacBook pro up to my room and used it's built in wireless all night because I was not aloud downstairs. I was watching Joost and playing around with it into the night. I eventually shut down and went to bed. Then this morning, my mother came in and told me it was time to wake up, Lauren wanted to go downstairs. So I got up, went down, ate a peep while looking at the PC card. Then I put it in, and set up the connection. It works great. So I am happy. That makes 3 of 4 or our Internet connected computers wireless. My father does not trust it for reasons unknown. So he will not let me set it up on his Dell, which has it built in. The card is not as bulky as expected, and it seems to be doing just fine. It is not flimsy, but the gauges are upside down because my PC card slot is on the left of my computer so I had to flip it. Oh well, now I can take this anywhere so I am happy. Then I got in the car and my dad and I just drove west. We drove a little past the Belvedere Assembly Plant (makes the jeep compass and the dodge caliber) and then came home in time for ham in the dining room. This is were my mother said she would like to do a vacation to Colorado and make it completely outdoors. Camping, skiing, biking, hiking. My idea of a nightmare in a nut shell. So have to talk her out of that now. I am hoping visiting the Grand Canyon will be a good compromise. Anyway, I am going to haul my seven pound laptop up to my room now, wish me luck, I may fall on the stairs it is so heavy. Anyway, that was my day. ttyl,

Hello, today there was crappy weather. A Hyundai pickup truck is a no definitely not maybe yes probably not. And that is about all that is interesting. I went to school today and I chilled and worked and went home. I was raced by a teacher of mine in my cab. I lost :( but I think I will get over it. I had homework for once so I am out of time for writing any more. I will put much effort into not procrastinating tomorrow. Not that I would have had anything interesting to say anyway. But I like to put in my two cents.

God evening all, I am Ryan Brooks here with a humorous security update, your computers banana peel cursor is going to kill you. What ever, today I went to school, nobody was there. I came home, it was a half day. And this is officially the shortest post in history. Wait, EMI has DRM free music on iTunes now, all of it, but it will cost you, and you can get higher quality tracks if you par even more, you are nearing a dollar fifty when you get DRM free and high quality tracks. Most likely all of the other music production companies will do the same. We all fought for this, and it looks like we won. Now we must make sure that Blu-Ray makes it as the winning format. It holds more and can do more. Hands down. MORE. Period. So yea, it has been a good day. Wish there was a new mac out, or an iPod or something, but what can you do? Wait until tomorrow of coarse. Sorry about the short post, but I am way behind on everything, I was procrastinating and do not have time. I am sorry, but there is not much else to cover. I mean I would have covered my minute by minute half school day, but not much happened, I reluctantly mowed the lawn, and I plan to teach Kyle how because I absolutely refuse to mow when it is hot out. And I do not even get payed that much. Like 10 dollars. So yea.

Again, sorry for the short post, i feel bad, ttyl,

4/1/07

I am posting this earlier today, (not that it will effect you) because I have to get up at 6 tomorrow because spring break is officially over. Today there were a few funny April Fools jokes going around the Internet. Google's TiSP free Internet service that runs through your toilet. Google also came out with (not really) Google Paper. This theoretically would let you have any e-mail printed and shipped to you. And Tom Merrit from CNET's CNET-TV apparently snuck into Apple's headquarters to show the world Apple TiVo. Which will transfer anything from your Mac to your TiVo. It was a TiVo logo on an AppleTV. But still funny. While on the topic of silly/funny videos on CNET-TV, there was a crave that made me giggle today as well. Tim Moynihan goes around the CNET office and takes a look at all of the CNET employees toys in this crave video. It is funny. Another joke that made me chuckle before I get on to my day, was one by the Korean car company Kia. My mother recently bought a Kia, a Kia Sedona, but that is besides the point. Kia decided to poke some fun at the furniture store Ikea that has a lot of furniture that needs assembly. So kia introduced the concept car last night called the i-Kia, which is a car that you must build yourself. And then you contact kia, and they ask you some questions and depending on how well they think you built the car, they will set the length of your warranty. Anywhere from 7 years, to a couple of weeks. That did not make me laugh out load, but it is by far the funniest of all April Fools Day jokes I have heard so far. OK, on to my day. I woke up a little earlier to get a little more prepared for tomorrow morning when I have to wake up @ 6. And I went downstairs, had some cake and Ice cream, but I had very little, so it is OK. Seriously, I had crumbs of cake and like a teaspoon of ice cream. So it is definitely better than what I could have done and would have done if I wasn't second guessing what I eat. I also had 2 hard boiled eggs. Then I got in the Kia and off to the movies I went. Crap, i just remembered I have to update my twitter. Anyway, I saw Blades of Glory. It was pretty funny. I rate it a 6 or 7 out of 10. It is way better than Wild Hogs which I saw a few days earlier. Then we came home, I got out of the Kia, jumped in the Toyota, and off to Borders Book Store were I sat and pondered looking for a book that didn't suck. I ended up getting Macs for Dummies, (wish I got vista for dummies, I already know OSX like the back of my hand) and Complications, which will probably scare me, but it still looked better than the alternatives. It is written by a doctor that talks about how modern medicine is not a miracle and there are still many problems that are very difficult if not impossible to fix in the human body. Then I came home, read Macs for Dummies, which I just skimmed through and then wished I had gotten Windows Vista for Dummies because I knew everything. And then jumped on the computer to blog, and catch up on all of my Google Reader stories. Low key day. But I almost prefer it that day at the end of a vacation.

See you all tomorrow,

-Ryan

3/31/07

Correction, I had said yesterday that one of my goals was to just not think and throw myself out there, and after much deliberation, I have decided that while that may work in some situations, it will only lead to disaster in most others. So I will think, but not too much about life decisions. Today, I woke up at 1:47PM, to my father coming into my room with the iPod AV cable I had ordered the day before or maybe two days before, i don't remember. All I remember is that I had the regular shipping, and it came in like a day. So I wonder, If I had paid for express delivery, which is like 30 bucks, would I have it any sooner? Hey, never know, maybe express items go to a different export door out of the warehouse or something and I would have gotten it later. I think express shipping is worth it on some things, but for pretty much everything from the online apple store, the standard shipping is plenty fast. So I plugged it in to my TV's AV input and played Avril Lavigne's music video "girlfriend" then I played Nickelback's music video that looks like a video game. Then Stephen Colbert's speaking at the white house convention thingy, and I have decided that I like it, but it is extremely pixelated. If this is how AppleTV looks, I would not buy. But maybe I would, it was hacked earlier today to run the full version of OSX that you would get if you went to the apple store and bought a new mac. It was very slow though. It had 1ghz and 256of ram, but yes, that would be the cheapest apple device to run OSX. AppleTV was released 8 days ago, and it has been hacked to be your personal mac, support USB, have any HDD you want as long as it is 2.5". And I am sure there are more. Apple must feel weird. But after seeing what videos bought on iTunes look like on a TV, even a HDTV. I can only guess that apple is going to have HD content in the iTunes store pretty soon. If not HD, then at least DVD quality. To go along with your nice movies, you can also spend some money on the updated MacBook Pro, and the new iMacs, that haven't been announced yet. But it has been over 200 days since the last update to the iMac, and the average is 168, and something like that for the macbook pro as well. Possibly new macbooks and everything else too? maybe. The only things we are not likely to see any updates to are the iPod shuffle, and the AppleTV. I heard a rumor that the apple flash based laptop may run the stripped down version of OSX that is on apple TV. Now not that I do not think that I could hack that, But that would still be a pain in the ass. I mean who is going to buy that? And even if I could get it to run OSX the full version, it would probably be slow because it was designed for the stripped version. So that irritates me, I may just end up buying the Mid-range MacBook. Eventually, i will need the MacBook Pro. But that is an entirely different post, this is supposed to be about my day. So yes, I woke up, tried out the connector from my iPod to my TV, then I went downstairs and I realized that my mother and my brother were gone, my sister and my father were walking out the door to go to her softball practice. So I made some mac n cheese, then got onto the tech news sites. I think i could be a journalist. I am very good at researching and expressing my opinion on what I am interested in. And that job pays OK. Hmmmmm. . . that's a thought. I will probably get carpel tunnel though, but there is a surgery for that. I have been trying to eat healthier, but the food is so good. But yes, I have been cutting the junk. I think sometimes I eat just cause I am bored. Which I am not doing as of last night when I realized this. I am skinny, but I will die very early if I keep eating the way I do. Or hopefully did. I always carry around a flash drive, my apple remote, a little led flashlight, and my cell phone, and today I put the flash drive on the same key chain as the led light. Which is also flat, and the same color, so it looks pretty cool. I put an animated GIF image of me looking around and then getting all up close to the camera and giving it a thumbs up. That is on My MySpace. Check it out, comment it, then look at my cool new layout.

ttyl,

-Ryan
